TC-SW8W

8-Way Wireless Switch Panel

Reversing onto a tight campsite in the dark means someone has to be outside and someone has to be at the switches. With the remote in your hand it can be the same person.

Why it matters

One system, three ways to control it — dash, remote, or phone

  • Two panels, one system

A wired panel at the wheel and a wireless remote you can lift out and carry. Both drive the same eight circuits.

  • 30 m from the vehicle

Reversing onto a tight site at night stops being a two-person job. The remote runs on 433 MHz / 2.4 GHz — no phone needed.

  • One to two months per charge

Rechargeable, around two months on standby. Nothing to wire to the remote, so it mounts wherever you want it.

  • App control, via the wired panel

The Bluetooth radio sits in the dash panel, not in the remote. So the app works near the vehicle; for distance, use the remote.

What it does

  • Ships as two panels: a wired main panel for the dash, and a wireless remote for the back of the truck or your pocket
  • Three ways to switch a circuit — the wired panel, the wireless remote, or the phone app
  • The remote works up to about 30 m from the vehicle on 433 MHz / 2.4 GHz
  • Rechargeable remote runs one to two months per charge, around two months on standby
  • App control runs over Bluetooth in the wired main panel — the remote itself is a radio handset, not a Bluetooth device
  • Built on the TC-SW8B platform: the same eight circuits and the same per-channel ratings

Where it goes

Built for overlanding rigs, 4WD touring builds, utes, trucks and recovery vehicles running 12–24V DC systems. The control box mounts in the engine bay; the switch head sits within reach on the dash or console.

Typical loads on a 8-circuit build: driving lights, a light bar, work lights, an air compressor, a dual-battery fridge, rock lights and camp lighting — each on its own protected channel.

Rated for -40°C to 105°C, so it holds up from a Scandinavian winter to an Australian summer.

Where it goes

Two boxes, one loom

The control box carries the current and lives in the engine bay. The panel only carries signal, so the cable through the firewall is thin and easy to route. The remote carries nothing at all.

  1. 1

    Control box — engine bay

Carries every amp. Mounts on the inner guard or firewall, fused channels facing down, battery leads straight to the terminals.

  2. 2

Wired main panel — within reach of the wheel

Signal only, so one thin cable through an existing firewall grommet. Mounts on the dash, a pillar or an overhead console.

  3. 3

Wireless remote panel — outside the vehicle

Same eight buttons as the main panel — one layout to learn. No wiring at all. It talks to the control box on 433 MHz / 2.4 GHz out to about 30 m, so the tray, the winch and the camp lights are reachable from outside the vehicle.

  4. 4

Phone app — the same eight channels

Everything the panels switch, plus the setup the buttons cannot do:

    • Backlight colour, per switch
    • Icon, per switch — the same 70-icon set
    • Mode, per circuit — toggle, momentary, flashing or strobe
    • Grouping, so one tap drives several circuits

Over Bluetooth — and the radio sits in the wired main panel, not in the remote, so the app works close to the vehicle. When you need distance, the remote is the tool.

Three ways to switch a circuit

One control box, one set of eight circuits, three ways to reach them. Every route drives the same channels, so nothing is locked behind a particular panel.

  1. Wired main panel

Mounts at the driver’s seat and wires to the control box. This is also the panel that carries the Bluetooth radio.

  2. Wireless remote panel

Lift it out and take it with you. It talks to the control box on 433 MHz / 2 out to about 30 m, and runs one to two months on a charge. It is a radio handset — it does not use Bluetooth and does not need your phone.

  3. Phone app

The app pairs over Bluetooth with the wired main panel, not with the remote. So app control works within Bluetooth range of the vehicle; for distance, use the remote.

Specifications marked to be confirmed are awaiting written confirmation from the production line. We would rather leave a field blank than publish a number we cannot stand behind — ask us and we will chase it for you.

On the 2 years warranty: Shorter than the 5 years on our wired panels, and deliberately so: the remote carries a rechargeable battery, and a battery is a consumable. The switching hardware is the same TC-SW8B platform.

Certification

Tested as part of the RuggedRay 12V smart switch panel family. Certificate numbers and the issuing laboratory are published so a distributor can verify them directly; full copies are supplied with dealer enquiries.

RuggedRay products are designed, manufactured and certified under Guangzhou Trutec Electronics Technology Co., Ltd.

Radio approval: Wireless certifications (FCC ID / CE RED) in progress, available for volume orders. The certificates below cover the controller and panel; they do not cover the radio, and we will not imply otherwise.

Questions buyers ask

Will the TC-SW8W run on a 24V truck?
Yes. The TC-SW8W accepts 12–24V DC, so the same part number covers 12V 4WDs and 24V trucks without a converter.
Can I run a winch through it?
Not directly. The highest-rated channel on the TC-SW8W is 2×30A, which suits lighting, compressors, fridges and pumps. A winch needs its own solenoid or contactor fed straight from the battery — the panel can switch that contactor.
What happens if a circuit overloads?
Each circuit carries its own fuse in the control box, so an overload opens that one circuit and leaves the rest running. Fuses are standard blade type — carry a couple of spares and you can swap one on the track in under a minute.
Is it waterproof?
The TC-SW8W is rated IP65. The control box is built for engine-bay mounting and the switch head mounts inside the cabin.
Do you supply custom icons and packaging?
Yes. The TC-SW8W ships with 70 oem icons as standard, and custom icon sets, logo printing and retail packaging are available for dealer and distributor programmes. Talk to us about volumes.
What is the warranty?
2 years from date of shipment, covering the control box, switch head and loom against manufacturing defects.

Wired or wireless?

The TC-SW8W has a direct counterpart with the same eight circuits and the same per-channel ratings — the only difference is how you reach the buttons. Compare them side by side before you order.
